That's a very good idea but not something I can implement since it must
be done on minnow once the Swiki is shut down.
Jochen, Mark:
What Giovanni is getting at here is whether it is possible for minnow to
report a 301 (Permanently Moved) reply pointing to
http://wiki.squeak.org/ at least for http://minnow.cc.gatech.edu/squeak/
once the content has been moved?
By the way, is the intention to move just the /squeak/ section of the
Swiki or the entire content?

I have been debugging the reported problems accessing the
wiki.squeak.org wiki for those behind a proxy. I have tracked it down
to the implementation of HttpRequest>>initProxyForwarding in the image.
It assumes that if an x-forwarded for header exists that it is a single
IP address. This appears to be a poor assumption. For example:
x-forwarded-for: 74.141.6.178, 62.90.138.162
I have not so far been able to track down documentation to confirm
whether or not this is 'officially' valid. Nonetheless Swiki should
probably not fail when this assumption is invalid.
Ken
I believe you meant planetfr.squeak.org. Done.

As far as I'm aware this no deletion of pages on Swiki, the concept
simply does not exist. The general procedure is as Andrew has done to
mark it for recycling at which point hopefully someone will reuse it for
some other purpose.
I checked the Google Cache and for now the cache still show's Brian's
information but it does not show any links other then for Virginia Tech.
And as far as I can tell there is no longer an entry for the old minnow
URL.
I think this is the best we can do.

In case noone else has stepped up, I volunteer for the job.

Ok, the sites are now running under http://wiki.squeak.org/, which is
what I recall we agreed upon earlier this year. I think you can setup
the forwards now.
box-admins - can you check and see whether everything is up to snuff?
It's well past midnight over here so I might not be entirely fresh
anymore (single malt scotch on friday night, y'know...)

This is yet another problem. Thanks for the report. I am able to
reproduce this and I suspect it is simply that we have missed something
regarding the Apache configuration.
Jochen: Any suggestions?

P.S. Interestingly enough I get a very similar error message
[Wed Jan 17 17:57:08 2007] [error] [client 74.141.66.178] proxy: error
reading status line from remote server 127.0.0.1, referer:

[Wed Jan 17 17:57:08 2007] [error] [client 74.141.66.178] proxy: Error
reading from remote server returned by /squeak/2432.upload, referer:
http://wiki.squeak.org/squeak/2432.upload
when I attempt to upload to what we are seeing regarding the complaints
from those attempting to access the site from behind a proxy. So maybe
this is more related than I think. However I (and I assume David) can
view the pages without any trouble whereas the others are reporting (I
believe) a complete inability to access the site.
In my research of the initial reports I found
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=37770
which seems related. I noticed that there was a new version of Apache2
(still 2.0.54 but a new intra-Debian version) and installed it. But it
seems that has had no effect. I will continue to investigate, but any
help is appreciated.

The release team needs to get ftp access on a squeak.org machine so we
can have an official place to put releases. (I have plenty of
machines to use, but they will look like UIUC machines and not
official squeak machines.) Edgar is probably the one who will
be doing more of the administration, but I will do some, too.
Also, we should probably edit some things at http://www.squeak.org/Releases
How do we do that?

Hi,
Maybe this could be interesting for backing up to the 50GB ftp space
at hetzner:
http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity/features.html
supports ftp... and does use the rsync algorithm, so it should be
quite fast.
