[ENH] Undeclared cleanup

Hi all, this tiny goodie removes all entries without references from Undeclared. Maybe this should be called after every file in. [ENH] new String modifier: String>>asPlural

Hi Folks. Here's the preamble from my changeset: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "OK. You could say that this is a silly crusade, but I like my Squeak messages to be in proper English (at least when the language you're using is English). I was messing around with the HangMan file-in and I got a walkback that had the following title: 'Error: HangManPhrases classs are not indexable'. I just couldn't stand the extra 's' on 'class', so I created a nifty new String method called asPlural and I modified the sender of the odd string to use the new String modifier. Take it or leave it, but I think this makes auto-generated text just a little easier to read." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope you find this new String modifier useful too. [ENH] SerialPort, remember them?

Hi: I've been playing with serial ports on my Powerbook G3 and I discovered some not so nice actions in class SerialPort. If the port is in use elsewhere, trying to open it gets a Primitive Error. I'd rather have my code get back some indication that the port didn't open, so I made some small mods to SerialPort, which are attached. Basically, primitives used during open answer nil if they fail, and the open method answers nil also. Dave _______________________________ David N. [BUG] Socket assumes connection in Linux

When I do: Socket initializeNetwork. s _ Socket new connectTo: (NetNameResolver addressFromString: '127.0.0.1') port: 2001. It always returns a connected socket even when there is no socket listening on 2001. (s waitForConnectionUntil: Socket standardDeadline) returns true right away. It is not until I attempt to send data that its status changes from connected to otherEndClosedButNotThisEnd and an error is raised. I am the only one having Linux socket problems? Can anyone repeat this problem or the problem I posted on March 23 entitled "[BUG]Socket waits unnecessarily in linux"? [ENH]MPEGPlayerMorph improved

Squeakers, I recently did some cleanup and enhancements for the MPEGPlayerMorph. --converted the code to use the new layout system. This allows for a resizable morph. --Moved the class under StretchyImageMorph to quickly allow for stretchy bitmap backgrounds --Added a "Look" button that lets you interactively load a graphic file as a background for the player --Added a path memory for the last directory a media file or graphic look is loaded from I started with the updated 2.9a-2915 image and added: MPEGPlayerMorph.10.cs MPEGPlayerJMM.10.cs MPEGPlayerMorphicFixJMM.1.cs MPEGPlayerFixBadParmsJMM.2.cs Then I made my changes. I looked at Karl's version with the iconic buttons today and noticed that MPEGPlayer2 was included and seemed quite different than the MPEGPlayer class in the version I started with. Am I behind the curve here? This changeset includes some mods to StandardFileMenu as well to support file searches with multiple patterns... just a quick hack, but very useful. BTW, I can play MP3 audio just fine in Windows but have yet to succeed with MPEG2 Video. Any thoughts? (See attached file: MPEGPlayerSSA.2.cs) Regards, Sam Sam S. Update to mpeg player (smalltalk, source code, plugin)

A good week ago I started to gather input from others as they build linux and windows versions of the plugins. I consolidated all this and decided today to submit it back to the list. Things aren't quite "out of the box" ready so to speak, but almost. Incorporated changes to make the mpeg code compile on Linux, macintosh, and Windows. More work is still pending. For the Smalltalk code we changed the follow: Added logic to set the color model based on endiness Changed C define names to better match what we are doing Reworked accessors for all Mpegfile attributes for accessibility in the MpegPlayer Added accessors for more instance variables Added logic to set sound volume Fiddled with delay logic once again Will drop more than 3 frames if video is too slow Rewrote logic that dealt with frame forward/backwards logic Added suggestions to play full screen if desired Added sanity checks to the C code Thanks to: Bert Freudenberg Lex Spoon Stephen Pair Karl Ramberg Douglas Brebner (hope I didn't miss anyone) Please refer to my mpeg page http://www.smalltalkconsulting.com/html/mpeg3source.html Remember you'll need the new macintosh plugin, the change set and the mpeg morphic player change set. It mostly is carbonized, but lacks the serial io support and sound support. I do see now that Apple has posted some examples of serial i/o. Yes it's just unix.. but hunting through the /dev directory looking for /dev/modem seems a bit tacky. Now if I just can convince myself to creak open the door of redoing the double buffered sound we'll be set.
