I have released a new package on
SqueakSource that contains SoundEx and DoubleMetaphone.

This package adds soundsLike: to string
‘titlebalm’ soundsLike: ‘teitelbaum’
You can also get the phenoticStringsFor: a
word to store in a database for later queries.
PhoneticStringComparator defaultClass “SoundEx”
new phoneticStringsFor: 'titlebalm' #('T341')
DoubleMetaphoneStringComparator new
phoneticStringsFor: 'teitelbaum' #('TTLPM' 'TTLPM')

a custom recipe program for my wife and wanted to use it to search ingredients
