OK, that didn't damage anything. Yet it didn't route to box4 either.
I think I can proceed to experiment without threat of damage to find out why that didn't work.

Yea, I just did that. I just executed "make". [1]
I did that after adding a line to the data file. [2]
I appreciate that this would not include http://squeak.org and only work for http://www.squeak.org, but I thought I'd start there.
Are we still on the Internet?

I'm under the impression that the current website cannot be updated, as it doesn't hold on to changes.
I think we can have the new website up in the next 48-hours and that should do the job.
I can understand that in the history of Squeak the toil you've been put through to push this one out the door has been great.
But I figure a little bit more time (where you aren't obligated to do more work) should be OK, right?

Now that Ken is resigned, who will take over the web-site update he
was working on?
For the sake of done, can we just change the current squeak.org
website real quick? I'm talking about just the download links and the
"Did you know?" at the very top which still says, "Squeak 4.4
Released".
I'm still interested in the new website, of course, but this would
just take someone a few minutes to do and so we can finally announce
and be done with 4.5..?
First let me apologize for making a number of promises in the last year
or so and failing to deliver. Most recently I started on getting the
new www.squeak.org website setup on box4, I promised Chris Cunnington
that I would move that farther along, and then I dropped it.
But I've been trying to resign/quit as the Box-Admins team leader for a
couple of years now. I'm now officially and entirely quitting. I won't
be putting any more time into maintaining the servers used by the Squeak
project.
To my knowledge I have no secret information or access that is not
available to others within the community. If I'm wrong about that just
let me know and I will do what is necessary.

Seconded. Thanks, Ken.

I gave Ken a call in Kentucky (from Toronto) and left a message asking if we could finish deploying the new squeak.org site.
(I'm not a stalker, he gave me the number.)
Here's hoping he's free this week for some time to look at nginx and tinydns.
It's his rig and I'm not going to just start fiddling with things without his involvement.
Chris
I know people are waiting for squeak.org to go live to complete the release of 4.5. I have to say at this point that that is out of my hands.
I've tried to get Ken on board in the past few days to push things over the top and I'm getting no response.
Tim, you suggestions are all great. But I'm only looking at them with half an eye until the new squeak.org is live.
Yes, there needs to be a way for people to collaborate without me being the sole conduit. I have a plan for that. I'll outline it soon.
Chris
I understand that I might be too late, or simply suggesting changes to things that are already improved, so don’t worry about telling me to forget it…
Front page - nice to see the new carousel pictures I made.
Download column -
“The simplest way to get started is to {download our All-In-One bundle} that works for Windows, OS X and x86 linux systems. Simply double-click and enter the world of Squeak. Newcomers will benefit from taking a look at the {Documentation page} to get started.
More ways to download and to get bleeding-edge versions can be found on the Downloads page.”
Obvious need for button to do the download at the {download our All-In-One bundle} and a link on the {Documentation page} to the actual downloads page.
NB: obviously we’d need a ‘Downloads’ page. I think it ought to listed in the menubar too.

Latest News column
- this ought to be a way for Ron T (who does most of the work of looking after news stuff ) to provide an occasional paragraph without needing any access or special tools. Could it provide a feed from a PlanetSqueak type RSS or whatever? I’d prefer it not just be ‘whatever is latest’ since it should be reserved for more important items.
OK; it occurs to me that this is not a very efficient way to do website editing. What might work better?

Yea, I anticipate Ken and I pushing it over the top this week.
We need to play with nginx and tinydns and that's it.
(Unless there's something Ken knows about that I don't).
