Comment:

 Tested on Spanish XO keyboard w/ localization: Spanish (Argentinia) and I
 was able to enter the accented characters:

 ÁÉÍÓÚÜÑ
 áéíóúüñ

 as well as the punctuation:

 ¿¡

 ...after managing to locate the 'acute' key between the 'P' and '[' keys.
