Milan Zimmerman commented on SQ-210:
------------------------------------

Etoys MPEG Playing Status - April 2009
Tested by dragging out the MPEG Player from Object Catalog -> Multimedia -> MPEG Player
Multimedia Test Files from http://membrane.com/test.html
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mpeg for MPEG info
all architectures here are 386

OLPC Sugar (Linux)	Windows Windows Linux Apple OSX
OLPC 0.84 image	Etoys 4.0 image Squeakland January 2009 installer	Etoys MPEG Playing Status - April 2009 Squeakland January 2009
no Mpeg3Plugin Mpeg3Plugin installed	http://squeakland.org/download/ installer RPM and DEB
for license reasons Mpeg3Plugin installed by default	are missing Mpeg3Plugin!
We need to add it to next release
MPEG1 X X X X ?
MP3 (.mp3)	X + + X ?
MPEG2 (mpg)	X + + X ?
MPEG4 X X X X ?

Overall, I would say that MPEG on Etoys works as expected if the Mpeg3Plugin is installed
-.MP3 audio and MPEG2 video work
	- MPEG4 does not
	- OLPC Sugar will not work as plugin not installed for licensing reasons. I assume local installations can add it?
	- Next Squeakland version for Linux should ensure to have Mpeg3Plugin installed both in RPM and DEB

> Using Ubuntu 8.10, I downloaded a sample MPEG file from http://www.fileformat.info/format/mpeg/sample/index.htm and opened it in Ubuntu's default Squeak environment. It played without a problem. Then, I downloaded the latest version of Etoys from Squeakland.org . I attempted to play the same video in Etoys. It would not play.
> I recieved the following error message:
> Error: a primitive has failed
> An error has occurred; you should probably just hit 'abandon'. Sorry!
