Jerome Peace commented on SQ-99:
--------------------------------

I haven't had a chance to look at either fix.

The problem being described though is a limitation of the rectangle from user which insists on top corner first.

The selection tool has a more liberal policy allowing any rectangle to be specified by two points.

That would be easier on the user.
They would not have to choose precisely at first.

It would also be interesting to specify a rectangle by doing a lasso motion and getting the rectangle it would fit within.

[OT] The actual lasso behavior I first expected was that
by lassoing an object I would get just the object itself and not its surrounding background.

The lasso behavior I find squeak implementing is more of a scissor cut of the display with a knife.

> Kathleen reports: "The Grab Patch tool works only if it is being dragged to the right and/or down. It will not work at all if dragged to the left and/or up. My students' coordination, or lack thereof, means the Grab Patch tool is harder, much harder, than the lasso tool which will go any direction."
