I dug up a Nihongo4 installation and some memory is coming back but can't quite tell when we stopped  delayed resource loading, which back then was one of the most buggy part around project loading and saving.
Since the nihongo4 projects are now more or less only available via fully downloading projects locally, I think we can almost safely to make it return the argument from #convertMapNameForBackwardcompatibilityFrom.
