I was just about to say that :)

Also, we don't have to do it *every* time.  Categories will change very infrequently.

I know we cannot save a "last time I checked" variable.

Perhaps better idea:

Do after every project is saved to the server successfully.  (after the user interaction is over, so it's in the background)
