It's not much of a problem in Linux because users can't move the VM around as easily as in OS X.

But we should work on a fix and not close this bug.

My longer-term plan for the Mac is to get rid of the installer. We'd simply deliver Etoys as a disk image. Installation works by drag-and-drop wherever you like. The browser plugin would live inside the app bundle. When running the Etoys app it would place a link to the plugin in the user's Library.

This would allow for an arbitrary location of the app, and not require admin rights for installation. When the app was moved it has to be re-run so the link gets corrected. Possibly some Alias magic could get around even this 9these are symlinks that are redirected when the target moves), but I have no idea how this works.
