Stephen Thomas commented on SQ-658:
-----------------------------------
It also has a strange (from this user's perspective) effect of showing up in the pastup's (world, playfield and Holder) collection.
Try this: Paint a Background on a Holder.
When I have a playfield or Holder and draw a background image I do not expect that background image to show up in the collection.
Solution (4) Better than Best (IMHBOWO) Remove the ability to create a background painting. I don't see the value add (other than the ability to draw in full screen, which would be nice). I can get the same effect by drawing a Sketch and embedding it and locking it. IMHBOWO (In My Humble But Often Wrong Opinion). This ability should also be removed from Playfield.
Also see note from Book Sprint: http://en.flossmanuals.net/bin/view/Etoys/TilesTalk
playfield - initiate painting flagged for removal because Scott said: initiate-painting is a good example of a weird thing put in because of a need Alan had for a demo a long time ago, which has persisted but probably should be flagged for removal in the next version.

> To recreate the problem:
> 1) Bring up the World's Halo
> 2) Click on "paint background" icon and draw a Sketch
> 3) Try to Delete the Sketch you just drew
> You should see the image of the Sketch remain on the screen, while there is a copy of it (or the sketch object itself) in the Trash. If you then click on the image left behind it willmove to the top left corner of the World.
