Provide a "editor ribbon" when you get the text's halp (see attached image for the general idea) that alllows you to specify bold, underline, font family, font size etc.

Ideally would also provide keyboard shortcuts that work when 'entering/editing text" that are the standard for the underlying platform (ex: CMD-C or CTRL-C for copy)
