VA Smalltalk is in the same position (as you might remember from my presentation at ESUG). I said then that we would deliver V8.0.1 in October with Seaside 3.0b1. Of course this means the end of October, but this translates into 'feature-complete' by the first week of October. I suspect I have a little more flexibility in my dates than the VW folks since V8.0.1 is just a refresh/fix roll-up release, but I would like it to include Seaside 3.0b1 if possible and I can/will push my dates to the right a little, but not a lot, to accommodate the Seaside schedule.

I'm aware of how much a volunteer effort Seaside is, and how this makes schedules hard to predict, so I understand that the answer most likely is 'it will be ready when it is ready'.

Hi All,

VisualWorks 7.7 is approaching a release candidate period. I need to include Seaside 3.0 in to the builds soon, but I'd *really* like to say "VW 7.7 includes Seaside 3.0b1". I can only do that if b1 is released before I get frozen out of the 7.7 release process completely.

The alternative is, I release something that's "not quite 3.0b1" which isn't ideal.

I'm expecting the release candidates to begin in the next two weeks - is there any chance we'll have 3.0b1 ready before then?

Cheers,
Michael
