Yes, see OSProcess and CommandShell on SqueakMap.

I know Lukas + Adrian have also used a PDF library within Squeak for 
typeset output, but this is probably more work than generating latex.  
I think they chose to go that route because it was possible to stream a 
large PDF document quite quickly, vs waiting for the latex processor to 
complete.
