In favor of HTML:

Horizontal spacing issue can be resolved in two ways:
 * use non-breakable spaces  
 * use tables

While   is faster to render, tables give more power and flexibility. Of
course, these two are not supported in every browser out there, but there is
a browser that supports them for almost every platform (e.g., N. Navigator).
