In my opinion, you should definitely wait for 2.0.  The beta release will be out next Friday, so you don't have long to wait.  The pluggable views will make it MUCH simpler, and probably somewhat more like VA.  Also, there is a very simple pattern for porting forward from the new pluggable views to morphic, with many examples in the system itself.
