Question about update from server.

No, they are just the consequence of some deep changes to the system
done by the updates.

Some update files are very short - you may not even see the indicator
blink by, others are a bit longer and you see it. Each update file is
treated as a complete entity for showing progress -- it is not showing
the progress of the update process as a whole. If you want to see more
of what is going on, open the Transcript window before you start the
update - the update process is logged to it as it progresses.
