GemStone Smalltalk has a shared object space, but each user gets a
separate transactional view of the object space. You only see other
users' changes to objects after they've committed their transaction,
and after you've committed or aborted your transaction. Each user
gets their own VM, which has some private object space, but most
objects are accessed from memory shared by multiple VMs.
