I think that SC (Squeak Central) does have plans for built-in help
kinds of systems, but neither of the two books that I'm working on
are that. I'm working on two books:
- A textbook, which is being trialed this coming semester at Georgia
Tech, Bucknell, and Portland State.
- An edited volume, edited by Kim Rose and me, with chapters on all
kinds of things Squeak, mostly aimed at an intermediate audience, but
with a nice how-to-get-started-Squeaking chapter by Noel Rappin.
Jeff's doing a chapter on Alice, Andy Greenberg is doing a chapter on
the plugins system, Stephen Pope is doing a chapter on Siren, two
chapters on MathMorphs (one on the system, one on the
FunctionPlotter), and so on. (Not to leave anyone out, but just to
give a sense of the breadth.) The chapter authors have promised me
chapters this month, so I expect to have them PDFed and up for review
next month. I'll send a longer message with more detail on that
later.

I think that most of the artwork in both books will be screenshots,
but volunteers for covers, logos, help on typography, etc. are
certainly welcome! I'll put a place for that in the Swiki as we get
it set up.
