Beware of April 1!

Folks,

Squeak has a very international following, and not everyone is aware
of a quaint custom we have in the United States (and England?) known
as "April Fools' Day".

April Fools' Day occurs on the first of April, and has been traditionally
a day for elaborate hoaxes and pranks. For example, one April Fools'
day at Sun Microsystems, someone's car was taken apart and carefully
re-assembled in the middle of a duck pond.

The reason I mention this is that last year someone posted to
the Squeak list on April 1st what appeared to be a forwarded Microsoft
press release announcing Microsoft's intention of turning Squeak into
a product. It was completely untrue. The joke was funny for those who
recognized it as a hoax after a few seconds of thinking that it was
really true, but it was NOT funny for several people in other countries
who had never heard of April Fools' day and thought it was true for
several hours or days. Such jokes are funny only if you are not
deceived for very long.

Anyhow, now you've been warned: be on your guard on April 1st!
