The recent updates included a new Slang translator that may greatly ease the process of creating named primitives by permitting certain linkage, validation and coercion code to be automatically generated from a concise "type specification" of the primitive method.  As I have been asked to some documentation out for this as soon as possible beyond the examples included in the updates, I put the following rough cut up on the Swiki.  Enjoy!
