Transmeta unveiled it's crusoe emulation processor, and several PDAs
and WebPads. I couldn't help thinkng DYNABOOK when I saw the webpad.

Currently the Crusoe emulates X86, but soon will add other ISAs to it's
ability. It can even emulate multiple ISAs at the same time.

Maybe we can add Smalltalk ISA, or even a Forth like system, or support
lisp, or SELF... <:)

They plan on releasing development kits for other people to add extra
ISA front ends to their code morphing software.

I bet SmallTalk, and thus Squeak, would scream on this beast. We would
no longer need to write C primitves either... <:)

Imagine a PDA with the power of a 333Mhz PIII, or a Pad with the power
of a 500Mhz PIII, and in each case use less than 2 watts of power. The
prices are going to be low and nice, and these things could run for
weeks on one charge ( with HD, etc, hours, but it'd still run longer
than current laptops ).
