Hmm you are right. 

There should be soon some tools for shared sources,
but as i know managing peoples are at least 100x more complicated than
managing some software. So try to give permisions to your mom or grandmam
for your sources and manage them for sucessfull code "development" :)
You can done this, but you will go rather safer way ...

My web oriented  tree ( in future neuron-like)system for adding and managing
informations will be some kind of open knowledge and storage base,
but the process you mentioned now is like cuting someone head to
find what he was thinking 1 minute before and than telling him back.
