Dave,

What happened to the work you did do on your second book.  Are you still 
doing anything with VA Smalltalk ?  Had you considered doing the second 
book a different way, like self published or by subscription ?  You could 
do the Stephen King thing, where the first chapter is put out on the net 
and then people pay by the chapter for the rest of the book as you get it 
done.  If you got enough subscribers, someone in publishing might decide 
that it was worth publishing AFTER you finished supplying the initial 
subscribers.
