Anyone interested about learning to use ANSI Exceptions properly,
would be well advised to go to the following site,
http://www.instantiations.com/Sts/pubs.htm
and *read* very carefully the paper entitled, Exceptional Power
and Control. It is written by Juanita Ewing, I would strongly
recommend reading the rest of her papers as well. What the heck,
while you are at it, there are some interesting papers by
Allen Wirfs-Brock, Eric Clayberg et. al. to be found there as well.
When you read the article, whenever you see the string,
'Smalltalk/V Mac exceptions' remember to substitute the string
'ANSI exceptions'. Otherwise, the text stands up well as a
gentle introduction into using exceptions to make code
clearer. It also gives the whys and wherefores
of ensured execution.
