I've a 2.8 image and at some point it locks up and becomes 
unresponsive. If I look via macsbugs I can see it's looping between 
new: and a fullgc triggered by insufficent memory found after doing a 
new:

My question is there some interesting bugs in the 2.8 image that 
cause issues when you run low on memory. Shouldn't I have gotten a 
dialog up saying there is a problem?

Why I run out of memory is another issue, but first why am I hung out 
to dry so to speak...
