No no no - in Unix, there's jpegtran, which does lossless JPEG transforms!
Simply do a "jpegtran -rotate 90 in.jpg > out.jpg"
It comes with libjpeg, see http://www.rt.com/man/jpegtran.1.html for a man
page.
