using a different license

Arguing about a name change from Squeak to another that is more
serious than "Python" is, IMHO, quite silly.

As to the more substantive license issues, I have argued it on the
merits in at least four separate threads over a twelve-month period.
I rely on those arguments, but am not inclined to go into great
detail about them again.

We are saying the same thing over and over again. Some here are do
not like the license, others are fine with it. Each has stated its
own reasons therefor. It is clear what the principal licensors
intend, and just as clear that they are unlikely to make substantial
changes, certainly in the near term.

It is time to put this to a rest. Disney isn't going to change its
license any time soon, except perhaps, with respect to the fonts.
Squeak is not going to be GPL'd (and, in fact, cannot be unless Apple
and the universe of contributors sign on to it). Get over it.

Disney, with its cadre of the best in-house IP lawyers in the world,
appears to be satisfied with the license they have received from
Apple, and are making commercial use of Squeak. While far from a
Q.E.D., this gives me comfort in my personal and professional use.

But before making use of any software, open source or proprietary,
you should confirm that the licenses are sufficient for your
particular purposes.
