I first met Jerry at OOPSLA 86 on the  exhibit floor, where he was watching
me demo an implementation of John Sowa's conceptual graphs in Tektronix
Smalltalk.
His encouragement then and over the next year helped cement my dedication
to a career using Smalltalk.
