I found the article more amusing than reassuring. Given Microsoft's legal
position it seems inconceivable to me that they'd do something as blatantly
anti-competitive as withdrawing support for Java from WinXP, and yet that
seems to be what they are prepared to do. Do you think perhaps that M$'s
legal department gets their Maalox by the semi-load? Eeeeek!!! On the
other hand, it may annoy people so much that rather than connect to M$'s web
site to download the Java plugin for IE they'll choose to download Netscape
instead. Or perhaps they'll download Linux. Methinks t'would indeed be
fitting were M$ to find themselves hoist by their own petard... (On the
other hand, I'm writing this using Outlook running on NT, so what does
*that* say?).

I also have grave doubts about the relative trustworthiness of Microsoft.
Umpteen times bitten, umpteenth+1 times shy...

(Humorous sideline: the Outlook spellchecker just took exception to "WinXP",
suggesting that I must have meant "Wimp" :-)
