What's about Squeak an 3D so far ?

I think that Hans might be talking about the OpenGL stuff done a while
ago by Wiebe Baron. This is a wrapper over OpenGL via FFI, and is not
integrated with the Balloon3D system.

This is distinct from what Bob mentions. Andreas Raab has written a
framework that allows Balloon3D to utilize hardware acceleration, and
hooked it up on Windows via both DirectX and OpenGL, and on MacOS via
OpenGL. Linux support (via OpenGL) was added by Bert Freudenberg.

What this means, for example, is that Squeak Alice now takes advantage
of hardware acceleration. All you have to do is enable the menu item
in the WonderlandCameraMorph.
