  I have done a little.  If you get the latest VM from my
laptop, you can let your iPAQ talk to other machine over IR
port.  The port is used as IrCOMM port.

  However, I haven't done too much test on it and I don't
know have happens in, for instance, intermittent connection
situation.  If you want to have fine control over the port,
you could write lower level primitive, which uses the port
as a special network port.

  In either case, I think you can begin with current
implementation.  Let me know the preference on how you get
the VM.
