Searching for Linux VMs

I think that our problems in getting the MPEG player to run may be 
due to using an old Linux VM.  But I couldn't find a pre-build 2.9 or 
newer VM in any of the places that I looked.  It's probably obvious 
... could someone please post a url to the right ftp site ...
