Yes, it has something in common but with hardware wires are fixed while in
software you can send wires (i.e. channel send or receive capabilities) over
wires (channels). And with software you can enqueue arbitrarily much stuff
on a wire. And with software you can create new devices (actor, concurrent
object, thread, ...) and wires on the fly.
