Preliminary right now.  The protocol and serialization layers are pretty
solid (and byte-compatible with the Java API, which has fun
possibilities), but the transactional layer is extremely weak.  Help would
be much appreciated.

I also have a patch for GOODS to allow tagged pointers - otherwise dynamic
typing gets ugly.
