Hmm, the benchmark is actually a smidge slower with that version.

Next suggested spot to speed up: text drag selecting. Lags horribly on
the Acorn. Presumably will be similar on iPaqs. A quick profile with the
debug menu suggests that might involve some work to improve event stuff
on Acorn though, but if anyone can be bothered to make a better
benchmark that randomly drag-selecting in a brower it would be useful to
have around.

Oh, and drag scrolling of a long list (like the categories in a typical
browser) really sucks too.

Let's impact some more posterior....
