If it is related to the German "gesellig" (which I assume), then the
essential part is the "Gesellschaft": It's only "gesellig" if there are a
few people with you. The dictionary provides some words that I've never
heard of before, like "gregarious" (http://dict.leo.org/?search=gesellig).
