This was true of 2.2 kernels. Switch to 2.4 and you'll have a _much_
higher limit (and generally a faster system to boot). (Can't remember
what the limit is, though....... ;-) Anyway, a lot of the special
effects people are now using this kernel in huge rendering farms.
