Sorry to answer myself, but it turns out the source of the above method is
incorrect, at least in #3552  The correct current list can be found with:

Smalltalk compactClassesArray

However, there are still possible improvements by replacing or adding some
classes.  In particular, I would think that Character would be a good
candidate.
