Thanks for the detailed explanation (and the menu option).  I just 
changed the method that adds customes to the remembered list to do 
nothing for one particular student who was having the most trouble.  
Another place where an additive approach to "image" construction would 
have been nice:  have a base "image" that is shared by all the students 
in the class, with their own stuff going to a "delta image".   Or 
rather delta images.  Each student / group typically had quite a number 
if images to save different states of their work.  (Project I/O is not 
reliable).

Then I could have simply fixed the problem in the shared base image.
