The Jitter seems to keep receding into the indefinite future.
Wasn't VI4 supposed to provide performance improvements as well?

If the Jitter is likely to be available for SPARC and PowerPC some time	
this year, or any other Jitter THIS year, then OK.  Otherwise, why should
we have to wait for something which on past indications may _never_ turn
up before the image format is improved?

(I am currently trying to get up to speed on the modern IA-32 instruction
set.  The P4 is definitely _not_ the machine I used to loathe so well.
I've got another 1500 or so pages of manual to read yet...)
