Hello list,
I was trying to install squeak. I wanted to install it on a Linux Box or Sparc
workstation. I dont have the root access to either. Is it possible to install
Squeak without root access?
My understanding is it is just enough if I have all the files at the right
places in local directory (than /usr/local ..). Please let me know. Here is
what I tried:
1. Changed the _root_ variable in the INSTALL file from _/_ to
_/some/local/dir_
(Do you think that works? What other changes are needed? )
2. I did
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH "/some/local/dir/usr/lib/squeak/3.4-1:"$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
setenv PATH "/some/local/dir/usr/bin/squeak:"$PATH
After that I went to "/some/local/dir/usr/lib/squeak" and ran the inisqueak .
It's not able to detect where the Image is?
Let me know if anybody has tried to install without being root.
Thanks,
Vimal
