I was considering moving the tiff plugin code into squeakmap. But I  
really need a wintel version to complete
the packaging.

Did anyone create one?  Somehow I think 95% of the machines are  
windows, but only 5% of the developers are
windows (95% linux/bsd/mac/arm non-windows)
