Ah it's a feature that was introduced as far as I can tell when the  
openGL version revved in 10.2.3
It doesn't happen everytime, but finding out why might be  
interesting... I had my desktop rendered as the
sky in the mars explorer portal. Really neat, but a bug, but by who?
