newbie question about Scamper and firewall proxy

Hi David,
The best solution to your "Catch-22" problem would be to first
download all updates and then do the updating.

To do this, try in a workspace:
Utilities readServerUpdatesSaveLocally: true updateImage: false.
Utilities applyUpdatesFromDisk

I use this scheme all the time to make better use of my (expensive)
dial-up connection by not wasting online-time with filing in.
And it helps me avoid multiple downloads of the same files when i'm
working with many images.
