What I looked at before looked really promising and I definitely trust 
Roel's judgement (along with the comments of a few other sets of eyes) 
and would recommend it (in advance) as a replacement for the existing 
mechanism.  However, I'll see if I can find time to look at the code in 
more detail again.  No promises though - trying to catch up after OOPSLA 
last week.  Thanks for pushing on this again, Stef.
