[BUG] Updates slow down dramatically after 5501

Hm, trying on OS X, the updates on the non-European server are nice & 
fast.  I'll test again on Windows later.  If anyone else happens to 
notice that updates (through 5501) on the non-European server are very 
slow on Windows, please let me know.
