That's because 'references to it' works only for >class names<and finds
references to that class.

You could if you wish extend it to try to work out that the selected string
might be an instvar and then open the kind of message browser you get if you
use the 'instvars' button in the browser and choose from the list. It might be
tricky to make if work in text panes outside a browser.
