Err, maybe because GIF actually is limited to 8 bit colors? What I think
that goes wrong (because the same thing happens when you remove the
explicit downgrade in #asWebImage) is that the selection of a color
palette in Squeak is somehow buggy (that's why I post it here, not on
the Seaside list).
