I know - that's why I want to assemble "authentic VMs" alongside the image
versions.

Ah, but that's not the same as running the *actual* image ;-) The only true
experience is when you have one that is dated 9/24/96 and where the source
file boldly claims 'From Smalltalk-80 version 1.03 of July 31, 1996 on 20
September 1996 at 10:50:05 am'! :-)
